Nomadic tribes have for thousands of years lived in the Yurt, from the western Siberain Plains to Pakistan, and from Iran to Mongolia.
Its use became widespread when the yurt-dwelling Mongolian conquerors overran the plains of the great Central Asian steppes.
Traditionally the Yurt was covered in thick layers of felt and was specifically designed to cope with extreme cold and strong winds.
In addition to this the Yurt was designed to cope with the hot summers of the Asians Steppes.
